TO KEEP SHOOTS SIMPLE AND PERSONAL, I DONʼT ALWAYS HAVE A MAKE-UP ARTIST, HAIR STYLIST OR PHOTO ASSISTANT IN THE ROOM DURING SHOOTS.
However, if youʼre not used to doing your own make-up/hair, want to get through many looks ASAP, or just want to splurge for the day, itʼs totally cool if you want to bring a professional in. But please contact us for Covid pre-caution coordination. PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING AN MUA OR HAIR STYLIST.
Emilia is the MUA and Hair person who has been with us in studio most often since about 2015. She’s fast, listens intently to what you want, and is chill on set:

My strong preference is that you use the MUA I recommend, because they vibe best with the kind of set I like to run. I also know they do good work in a timely fashion. If you bring in someone I don’t know… it could slow down your shoot or impact how creative we’re able to get.
While I have preferred people, we understand if you have your own. More than one client has a MUA coming from the TV show they’re on every day. We get that! You’re just gonna be happier in that situation!
If you use our recommended people. please get in touch directly with the MUA to schedule, and let us know when they are confirmed. Your call time is the MUA call time. If your shoot time is 11am, they should arrive at 11am.

This shoot will last up to 4 hours. We may not use the full 4 hours. Some people do get everything they need in less time and we wrap early. If you've never done a shoot before, we'll spend a lot of time walking you through what you need. Don't worry about it too much before your shoot. Just bring a lot of outfit options and we'll get started.
While I work to be efficient during your shoot, I have found that it's better to take the time while we are together to work through ideas and talk strategy about your career. We'll talk a lot about what is coming up for you in the year. And I'll help you plan out your photo roll out plan.
On occasion, people have come up with a concept mid-shoot and we have changed course to do that photo. It's rare, but I like to allow time for that kind of thing to happen. We'll also do some practical stuff during the 4 hours. We'll be reviewing photos while we shoot and selecting photos for your online gallery... that's a password protected private gallery that only you will have access to. You'll get all your favorite photos from your shoot delivered there.

Most people need a combination of casting headshots + editorial type images to promote their comedy shows. Or an author photo + comedy promo, etc. Everything about the studio and how we shoot is set up to accommodate those varied needs. Don’t stress if you need several different styles in your shoot. We get into some of this in the Case Studies section but unless you need an incredibly complicated set, we’ll most likely get to all the things you need during your shoot.

Donʼt worry if you’re not a visuals person and don’t know what colors or backdrops you want. We just like to let you know it’s an option to collaborate on what kind of set we have. If you do have a color request, then great, I may paint a backdrop for you as long as you send it at least 7-10 days before your shoot. If you need additional props or furniture beyond a backdrop, you will have to bring it yourself. Don’t know what you want? No prob. There are numerous backdrops for you at the studio and we can look at the outfits you bring in and see what looks cool together. Most shoots are done that way!!!
